Can the LED Keeper fix incandescent sets?
Due to the different physics behind incandescent and LED light sets, the LED Keeper cannot assist with incandescent light sets. But thankfully, the company behind the LED Keeper also offers the LightKeeper Pro — the complete tool for the repair of incandescent light sets.
Will this work on a 240 Volt set?
No, the LED Keeper is designed to work on a 120 Volt light set only.
How to tell if you are working with incandescent lights or LEDs?
a) Incandescent bulbs have filaments and tend to get warm when lit a while LEDs do not
b) Remove a bulb and look to see if the wires are offset or not [Offset = LED; Equal height = Incandescent]
c) LEDs have a plastic encasement while incandescent has glass
Can the LED Keeper be used on sets with replaceable and non-replaceable bulbs?
Yes, the LED Keeper can assist on LED light sets wired in series whether the bulbs are replaceable or not. The Universal Replacement PODs included will definitely assist with non-replaceable bulbs.
Can this tool fix a strand where every other light is out?
The LED Keeper can assist with LED light sets that are wired in series, meaning you can remove one bulb from a functional section and the section will become unlit. Typically, if every other bulb is out then we are dealing with a control box or a light set that is not wired in series. The LED Keeper cannot assist with light sets that have control boxes, rope lights, battery operated sets, or LEDs.
Can you use this tool on light set with 3 wires going in and out of each bulb?
Yes, you’ll simply tap into each of them to determine which results in the functional section illuminating. Instructions to apply a Universal Replacement POD to a 3 wire socket are located on our website.
